It?s nice to think we have people looking out for us when we browse the web, like WOT and SiteAdvisor. But what about when they get it wrong?. What does this mean for a website? In the case of the story we published last week it means a great deal to the author and site owner Jeremy Collake who's site was wrongly branded as hosting a dangerous download. Jeremy has tried contacting McAfee, as have we, but they have chosen not to respond. Even more disturbing is the fact they have chosen to ignore their own reviewers who have left a total of 11 comments and urged McAfee to remove this black mark against Jeremy?s site, the makers of Process Lasso.
McAfee obviously run SiteAdvisor for their own marketing purposes and NOT for the benefit of the end user and certainly not for the likes of Jeremy as its clear when things go wrong there is no-one around to put it right from McAfee which not only frightens ME as a site owner but puts the reliability of the entire SiteAdvisor system into question for the end user also!. More worrying as an after-thought is the ability for any re-viewer to purposely blacken the name of any website they choose with the affected website having no recourse or voice and while WOT have yet to prove themselves in this respect McAfee have very much made a sham of the whole web-safe system!. Jeremy?s site is: http://www.bitsum.com/ Show your support for Process Lasso and contact McAfee: [email protected] |
