From today, we will be changing the way we deal with files we feel should no longer be listed at FreewareBB.
We normally remove listings outright when we feel they are no longer freeware but have changed to trialware, demo or even shareware. When the authors links and site dissapear sometimes this leaves broken links on our site and this is another reason we will remove their listing. It also goes without saying that when an author's listing or website becomes suspicious we will also take the necessary steps to protect our members and visitors. Previously we simply deleted the listing itself but from now we intend to leave the listing available for everyone to see and respond to and we will alter it accordingly to display a notice. When this happens, we will remove all links to the authors site on the listing as well as any available download links, etc, and will leave only the details of the software. This way, everyone is able to see the reason why and even still have their say on the matter. When others arrive at our site through a search engine link to this they will see our reasons we feel the download is no longer available and although certain details in the download will have been removed, which means no harm will come to their PC, it may be enough to stop them searching elsewhere and landing on a download site which may not consider it important enough to issue a similar warning!. As always, your views and comments are welcome and appreciated. Kind Regards Marko |

Sounds like a good idea to me, it's not the first time I noticed something missing from freewarebb and wondered why!

Now that is a good idea marko, one which will definately set you apart from most other download sites for sure (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Thing is, most other download sites don't even bother to remove bad files from their site, let alone take the time to make people aware of the dangerous ones!

I agree; hopefully sometime soon those developers who are more interested in showing the useless awards on their sites will take note when they are listed here negatively
