Much has been said about OpenOffice in the past, some good and some not so good. OpenOffice isn’t necessarily any better than Office, for my money it’s the same but talking about money Microsoft Office will set you back anywhere between £50-£200 ($100-$400) depending on the version whereas OpenOffice is completely free!. The main concern for users is compatibility, although OpenOffice can handle many file formats including the majority of those found in MS Office, so forget that concern!.

OpenOffice comes complete with a word processor, spreadsheet, pres-entation modue, database and drawing tools. Personally, I prefer OpenOffice’s own image editing tools over Microsoft’s which allow a great deal of control over your images and photos and overall OpenOffice is probably the No.1 threat to MS Office, deservedly so!.
