Here's a few tips to get the best from the search facilties on our download section ...

If you're looking for a particular title then that's easy .. simply enter the name of it in the search box at the top of our pages (google search) or alternatively you can go to the downloads section and use the search there ( You can enter all or part of the title you are looking for although because the search will initially look at all content, and not just the titles, you may wish to use the download sections advanced search to avoid getting multiple results.

Here's how the download section looks ...

Notice from the above screenshot the "Search" button?. Well, go ahead and give that a click and you'll see a page like this (which is the advanced search) ...

The first thing you'll notice is all the options but don't be put off by them, they really can make a fantastic difference in your search. If you know the name of the title you're looking for then you can simply enter it in the "search for keywords" box. This could be part or all of the title you are looking for.

Let's say you're looking for a freeware utility for your webcam; you can simply enter the keyword 'webcam' to retrieve all listings that have the word 'webcam' in them. You may then find that some of the results are not actually webcam software as such, but nonetheless have the word 'webcam' in them for another reason. Now try changing the "in" box from "Both titles and descriptions" to just "Titles only" and run the search again and you'll find the listed items much more relevant. You could also repeat the search with only 'cam' as the keyword and see what results you get!.

If you wanted to find the most recent files that were added to the "System Tweaking Utilities" category. Using Fig 1.3 as an example, you would first use the 'up/down' scroll bar to find the category you want to search in within the "In categories" section and then click on it. Then, further down in the 'and sort results by' area use the drop down menu to click 'submission date'. Pressing the 'Do Search' button will then list all the files in that category from the most recently added to the oldest. You could also reverse this to show the oldest files first by changing the "in Z-A" to "in A-Z" - you get the idea!.

If you want to be even more specific in your search and you have other details of the file you're searching for you could enter them as well. For example, if you know the authors website details you could enter those in the "Author's Website" box such as "" which will then only return results for those items that have "" listed as the authors website.

So, now you'll hopefully have a better idea of the power behind our search facility and we hope you are able to get better results from any of your search requirements!.
