Stick with Malwarebytes and SUPERAntiSpyware. They are clean, no phone home spyware/adware, 99 percent smaller installers and unlike Ad-Aware 9.0 they do not take over your machine and make you the slave.
Trouble is: Ad-Aware free used to be a pretty reasonable scanner/remover but now it has moved into the realm of 'anti-virus' software it is taking on some pretty stiff opposition.
Ad-Aware is underdone when compared to other free anti-virus solutions; full real-time protection is limited in Ad-Aware. Also missing are Web surfing protection and silent or gaming mode which are now standard fair in most competitors' products.
Lavasoft are gradually improving the software, this latest version adds a new type of detection engine called "Dedicated Detection" to compliment the existing "Genotype" heuristics based engine...but it still has a loooong way to go.
