We've had a few people contact us regarding the installation of toolbars with some software downloaded from our site and although we've discussed this before I thought it wise to revive the subject to bring it to the fore again. OK, our stance is simple, if it's adware, malware or suspicious then it's an absolute no-go, and this goes for any file, toolbar, add-on, etc. In the unlikely event of you finding such a download on our site then we always encourage you to let us know about it and we will take the necessary action.

If it's not considered malware, then it falls into a further 2 categories ...
    1. The software ask's if it can install a toolbar
If so, there is a clear choice to the end user and you should always pay attention to license agreements on software and we know it's a pain but a lot of software that is given away is supported by toolbar sponsorship.

    2. The software doesn't ask if it can install a toolbar
If the software automatically installs a toolbar then we consider this unacceptable. We appreciate free software sometimes takes a lot of time to develop and the authors may go to some expense and hope to recoup some of their outlay by third party offerings although when the end user isn't given the choice to install something we feel this could be a dangerous practice and as such wouldn't support it.

If you find any software on FreewareBB installs a toolbar automatically please raise a comment on the download itself or contact us in any other way, but DO contact us!.
    Cheers

Should really go without saying marko, if people want to just install anything and everything they should really expect to face the consequences

I think people should have the ability to install software without the risk of malware or viruses but it does come down to everyone being responsible for their PC's well-being, and in the case of toolbars I've seen computers with many installed to the point where it's difficult to actually see the web browser!. Everyone should definately look out for toolbar installations and we may even start making a note on the listings themselves to warn people about pending toolbar installs, at the moment we're still trying to figure the best way to do this
