We always appreciate members input on FreewareBB, and this time we're asking members their thoughts on our Promotions and Free Offers section, in particular the current promotion running at the minute which is 10 Free Licenses for WinX DVD Ripper Platinum.
These promotions don't seem to be generating much interest at the moment and we're wondering if there is any particular reason why?.
Remember, your answer will help shape future offerings so please be as honest as you like and if it's something as simple as you didn't know about the promotion, please say :)
Cheers
Marko

Hi herenow, the promotion was posted last week so I can't see it being the Easter Break, plus promo's before this don't really seem to be accepted very well either, this is what confuses us a little - obviously not everyone is going to find the software on offer of use to them but we're just concerned there are other reasons for the lack of interest - as for 'pre-stolen' I guess you're referring to cracked versions of the software or people who already have license keys, etc?.
Thing with us here at FreewareBB, we're always trying to do things better based on feedback and if we can do the promotions better we'd love to know about it :)
Cheers

I have so many bappliocations on my computer that overlap. I also only need one copy of a program. However, the programs must be something I would useBurning CD's, copying MP3s, etc. are not somethig I do. I prefer programs that can be used everyday in some function to make life a little easier.

hello
as regards the promo i did nt take part for the simple reason i have never won anything of this nature and do not know anyone who has so i did nt bother doing it. It would be nice to win but basically i don t think i ever will. You see these promotions all over the net and they have stopped being of interest to me after the 50th attempt with no results, unfortunately its apathy more than the promotion.
Yours faithfully,
Thomas mills.

Thomas, you have to be in it to win it - I don't know about anywhere else but here at FreewareBB we do things honestly :)

I probably missed this one due to a heavy inbox or information overload day.
Keep it coming.

Hi
My suggesation is to place a promotions box on the front page so that any user should not miss it. I have to keep remnding myself go and look to see if there are any new promotions.

:) Hi Marko, personally I do not always check your site unless I'm after a specific piece of software. I didn't know you had a special promotions section, maybe a "SPECIAL OFFERS" or "HOT SPECIALS" or something on the Navigation Menu might help?
I find the Email alerts very welcomed and act as a reminder for me to quickly check your site. Hope this helps regards.

Interesting suggestions guys, I'm wondering if any of you use an RSS reader or would be interested in a toolbar from FreewareBB?. You can view our current RSS feeds HERE and we already have a toolbar I've been working on improving - an RSS reader would allow you to subscribe to the various forums and would alert you to the new topics created, similarly a toolbar would do much the same but bring other useful features to your view. Any thoughts on either of those?

Hi i only go for promotions i need but a toolbar is a great idea and would be more than welcome.
promotions are a good thing so any are worth a look but not for the sake of it.
general apps are the thing to promote.
thanks

How about a toolbar that has buttons update via RSS that when clicked will take the user directly to that area of FreeWareBB like the "Offers" section. As an added bonus sort allow the user the ability to configure buttons or drop down controls for "watched" software that they like and wished to be notified constituent to the article's updates.
The toolbar could also have a log-in mechanism that remotely logs the user in as desired and could potentially update itself against a set of user preferences established in the user's FreeWareBB Profile Dashboard. This will help with site updates, extending the toolbar automagically as the site evolves and allow a user to jump in where they left off after a system upgrade or recovery process and even allow cross-platform consistency in the future.
SAS - Software as a Service philosophy 101. Good thinking. Now, "get er done!" :)

As for the toolbar, we've configured one to contain most of the stuff asked for (see http://www.freewareb...ar-t58576.html) but because it's a third party toolbar it would take a lot of coding to connect it with our own dbase, something which I'm afraid we wouldn't be able to do although I do like your idea Raven - could be a possible for the future, though having said that it's possible to 'subscribe' to any thread, forum or topic and be notified of new post's and replies via email - you can see how to do that here: http://www.freewareb...pic-t21269.html

Hello, I was just noticing some of the people's comment's.I'll say there's alway's room for improvment. But I really don't like the idea of third party. I don't just visit this website because of all the wounderful downloads, of the fact that eveyone on this site is down to earth, honest and true. I feel this is one of the safest place's to visit on the web. I guess I'm willing to try something new here and more power to one of my favord website manager's. Even though my two cent's is a little off from what the rest are saying up there I though i'd add it anyway.

I personaly don't download thing's like this dvd ripper is because I already have one builtin. But I know my kid's download stuff like this on their computers. More for the younger generation, it's an eye catcher for them. Maybe that's exactly what's needed.

Hi Marko,
even though this post is old i felt like replying as it would shape the provide way for future promotions.
Of late WinX DVD Ripper Platinum had not only been given away at the developer site for free, but also they promoted their software through many giveaways on many forums/blogs.
This is infact good, but now it has reached some what at a saturation level. And so we see less response/need for it.
Thanks, Grr
