This is very bad news in deed!!! I am sorry that it did not work out. I visit this site at least once a day and sometimes more.

I would like to thank Marko and Jim for all their hard work.

Despite the best efforts of all concerned, it is with regret and frustration that I have to announce we will be closing down FreewareBB at the end of this month. The decision has not been an easy one for me to make, but it's the only one available to me.

Lack of funds, despite recent appeals, a recent upgrade to the site which I believe to have caused us some issues with the search engines and the loss of an extremely important modification (CSEO) as a result of the upgrade have all contributed to the demise of FreewareBB.

Advertising revenue for the site has plummeted as a result of loosing much of our search engine traffic, yet sites rated negatively by WOT and SiteAdvisor and who are known for the distribution of spyware and viruses rank high by Google and other search engines - despite our efforts to provide a safe, secure and family friendly environment it is clear we are not winning the battle and so will bow out gracefully and allow these sites to continue on with their agenda of misleading "free" downloads and infesting the web and people's computers with all manner of bugs and viruses.

To those who have supported FreewareBB in some way throughout it's short existance, I thank you sincerely and in particular I thank Jim Hillier for all his hard work and efforts in bringing you some of the best in promotions and becoming a good friend of the site and me personally - it was certainly fun while it lasted :)

        Kind Regards
        Marko

Thank You Marko for all the hard work that and effort that you have put forth for us on this site,Its sad that this is happening, but don't feel bad, because you have tried so hard to make this work, also thank you Mr. Jim Hillier for all the hard work that you have done in promotions,God bless both of you and your families and I hope one day to see both of back on another site working together,WHO KNOWS? The best to both of you.

As a computer user I found this site to be very interesting and helpful. It acquainted me with some least known but wonderful softwares. And after hearing it's closure I feel both sad and also shocked. I wonder how can such a wonderful site can't survive in this rude web world???

Really sorry to see that you're going, I've downloaded some excellent programmes from FreewareBB. Good luck in whatever you do next and thanks for everything.

I'm a little absent and did not immediately read.
            Could not we do something?
            This site should be required!!!
            What is the path?

Guys, just a quick update - I've had contact from someone at Invision who has offered to help out with the site in it's current issues which could hopefully avoid the need for us to close down. It's still very much early days, but I'm a lot more hopeful than I was when I originally posted this thread - for now let's just say the site won't close just yet, hopefully not at all as far as I'm concerned now, but we still have a little way to go before things get back to 100% so please do be patient for another short while and hopefully I'll have more details shortly :)
              Marko
