We've just completed a minor upgrade on the site and will be introducing an upgrade to the downloads system very shortly.

    Share Links, Comments and Likes!
We're quite excited about this next update to the downloads system as it will be the start of a consistent thread throughout the site and it's various area's such as 'share links', 'comments' and 'likes' meaning that from the forum area right through to the download section you will be able to share those topics or downloads you have found really interesting on twitter, FaceBook, Digg, and other social media and bookmark sites. The 'likes' button will soon replace the 'favorite' button on the downloads system and all content you have chosen to 'like' will be available for you to see using a new 'My Liked Content' option from your user dropdown in the top of every page. When you like a file, you can choose to like anonymously (so that other users do not know you have liked it), and you can choose to receive notifications of updates. If you enable notifications, you will be notified when the file is updated and/or when someone comments on the file.

You will also have the ability to "Like" a category of files, allowing you to optionally be notified when new files are submitted to a category, similar to the "Watch Forum" option in the forums!.

Using the advanced search form, you will soon be able to filter your downloads search results based on category, allowing you to search for files within specified categories easily. Additionally, you will also find "Last Update Date" and "Rating" as new sorting options, allowing you to better control the order of the returned search results.

There has also been a complete overhaul to the search results interface to present you with much more information which can be useful when reviewing the search results to verify if it is the file you are looking for. The results are now displayed in a traditional table manner, consistent with the manner in which files are displayed within the download manager itself. Additionally, the category breadcrumb is shown below the file name so you can easily see which category the file is contained in. The file rating, number of views and downloads, submitter information, and last update information are also available for you to review.

    Change Logs
Users will soon be able to view the full change log for a given file by clicking on a link presented on the file information page. This allows you to view the full change log for files.

    Look and Feel
Both the submission process and the file display in the downloads section has been totally revamped to show more appropriate information in a format which is particularly pleasing to the eye!. The main download category page will soon be a form of portal and extension to the sites front page, offering more in the way of 'what's new', 'highest rated files', and 'most watched files'. Each panel will show up to 18 files in a scrollable pane so it's easy for users to browse. A new sidebar will show 'top downloads' and 'top authors'.

Each download will soon have it's interface changed also to show all the usual information in a much more pleasing manner for users, with the most relevant information exactly where it should be, and with all the new features placed where they are easy to find.

This upgrade should be coming very soon to FreewareBB and we hope you enjoy the new and exciting features it should bring :)
