Marko; As you know I haven't been on the site verylong but I can say for sure that I haven't found anything negitive about the site. I like to come here and read as much as I can of other peoples thoughts about freeware and okay life. :)

I have found some great people to listen to and also talk to sometimes. Some of you have a great head on your shoulders and your intelligent too. :good: I can't say that about some of the so called tech forums I have been to. I guess this is enough of the cudos of the day from me. I just hope I will be around for a while and see this site grow and thrive. Thank you for all your hard work on behalf of us computer illiterate commoners.

Hey sierkahn buddy around here there is no such thing as "computer illiterate", there's "Members Home Edition" and "Members Professional Edition". Being that you chose FreewareBB, already shows you're on the way to "Members Pro". Pretty soon you'll be like ole Claw and bleed FBB, LOL. Always nice to talk to you to buddy. :good:

Well, I mostly run Ubuntu and Mint, so I'm not usually interested in Windows software. Thing is, many of the apps in the newsletter and site also run on Linux, yet you don't list them as such. Some were even written for Linux first then ported to windows. So, list Linux in the "will run on..." section of the application descriptions.

James, it really isn't an easy feat attempting to update all the listings that will run on Linux, in fact, it would be a full time job trying to figure out and work through all those downloads that would run on Linux - we are, primarily, a windows freeware download site and where we know for sure a download would work on Linux we would list it as such, problem is, some developers don't make it obvious. Where we hold a download for Linux, we will attempt to show "Linux" in the "Will run on" section but sometimes it is an oversight on our behalf so if anyone knows of any downloads where we have a Linux version available but aren't showing Linux in the "Will run on" field, please do let us know :)

Hey guys...hopefully Linux will perfect Windows environments for running Windows apps and programs. For me, that's the ideal world on this subject. Linux and MS have sure gone in separate directions, that's for sure.

Just seems to me the best route for Linux is to get in there and perfect running environments for Windows programs and take advantage of all the hoards of Windows programs there are. No matter what Linux is up against it on this subject I think. Guess that means marko is right. It would be impossible to track down everything about programs that would run in Linux no matter how great it would be. Not that the good will isn't there, it's just a matter of time and progress I think. Never has really been a window (pardon the pun) of opportunity for it to happen...

Like marko said, we just need to keep an eye open for the "will run on" software and keep him in tune on what we find. That's a start in the right direction.

I doubt I'm the only one interested. Although who knows how many Linux users were attracted to your cute penguin logo, but quit your newsletter after finding you filter out all Linux references. I just went to your "Recent Hotpicks!" list and there's Firefox 16 Beta and Teamview. Both of those run natively on Linux.

Gismo's Freeware doesn't have any problem in listing all the OS's that apply to software, just sayin'. I mean, it's not going to be a full-time job, just stop filtering it out, OK?

James, your more than welcome to take on the task yourself if you wish, unfortunately it's a full time job for me keeping this website running with administration tasks, updates, finding new downloads, sifting through the idiots who spam is constantly and unlike Gizmo's website, I don't have the help of dozens of volunteers and I don't take in thousands each month from ads - for the past year I've been paying the $100 per month to keep the site up and running from my own pocket - if something needs done, raise your hand and volunteer to help otherwise I'm afraid keeping the site alive will be my priority for the next short while.

And actually, I don't "filter out" anything, I just don't have the time to wade through thousands of websites searching for whether or not their software runs on Linux or not - as I've said before, if the developers make it obvious their software runs on linux, I'll mark it as such, if they don't, then I can't spend anymore time on a developers website than I already do - there just aren't enough hours in the day.
