Post in here all your facts, useless or useful, it doesn't matter :)

Did you know that the paper notes we use today as money, goes way back to the 1600's. First introduced in England by goldsmiths, who, at that time were "Banks". People would come into the goldsmiths, recieve a secure box to put all their gold in, and the goldsmith would keep it. He would then give you a reciept which said "I promise to pay the bearer the sum of....". People then started to swap these reciepts instead of money, and thus the bank note was born. Thats also why you get the "I promise to pay the bearer the sum of..." on all sterling notes :)

An old law in Bellingham, Washington, made it illegal for a woman to take more than 3 steps backwards while dancing.

Anti-modem laws restrict Internet access in the country of Burma. Illegal possession of a modem can lead to a prison term.

Probably mentioned this before, but I don't care, when my mum and dad moved up to Scotland from England our first permanent home was the old home of the guitarist from the Simple Minds, Charlie Burchell!! Remember them? That unknown band from a scheme in Glasgow who (I think) are still actually touring around the world! ... we actually found a few bits and pieces when we moved in that we threw out, but later realised we think it was a blazer badge from one of their future albums! :girl_cray2:

My son, William (w_williamson above) used to always get a free cake from lead singer Jim Kerr's mum, who worked in Gregg's the bakers for a few years after we moved there!! Who said that good things don't come from inner city schemes!! (well, my wife came from one, so I guess, er, yeh!) :greeting:

Just in case you don't remember them, here they are ....
