Hey, James and Marko.

I'm agree that download managers can't provide speeds more than your ISP rate.
But just example: go to [URL REMOVED] and click "Download Now" button.
I have 100Kb/s speed on this file in my Firefox, but when I download this link with FDM(6 threads) - speed can be up to 700-800Kb/s.

Sometimes ISP limits some protocols, like Bittorrent in some European countries(as I now - in Germany, also some UK ISPs).

Oh No!! FF - The site you have linked to is rated RED by MSA. There is no apparent reason for this recorded on the 'Site Details' page, but FreewareBB can be found guilty by association!!: http://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/haozip.com

Yep, would appear this is very much a conundrum, WOT users rate it decently, though someone has claimed they are "involved in the distribution of malware", siteadvisor have marked it negatively yet all the downloads are marked as "clean" and BrowserDefender claim the site is "safe to visit". Without any real purpose to those ratings, it's impossible for us to withdraw support for that file - and the site advisory services are beginning to become somewhat unreliable in their ratings by the looks of things!!

I agree, there is little (or no) evidence from MSA to support the RED rating BUT as long as the site is rated that way, FreewareBB can also attract a negative rating if the link remains!!

Guess it's prob a chance we'll have to take in this instance Jimbo, unless the site advisories are able to come up with something more viable than what they have, we'll be deleting links left, right and center mate Most of the links within the posts are "nofollow" anyway which means the search engines should ignore them - only select links get the golden "dofollow" status

Okay mate, entirely up to you of course.

It's just that I have read so many horror stories from site owners who's sites have been incorrectly rated RED by MSA; the drawn out attempts to get the RED rating lifted and the irreparable damage it has done in the interim.

Fair nuff mate, but would that also be the case for the permanent link on the download page?

The system can be unfair and this is one case where I believe that may well hold true, so I am hearing you mate.

Jim, I was about to say I think we'd struggle to justify removing the link and the download based on what info the advisories have given us mate - there is one review from a WOT user - otherwise the ratings on WOT are relatively decent. This leaves us with SiteAdvisor, who state ....

That alone gave us little info .....

However, looking a little further there are two reviews of the site in SiteAdvisor, one of which reads:

With that, I am removing the links and suspending the download pending a further review and more checks on the developers website (although previous and current scans on the download itself come back clean). It's quite possible the developer was an unfortunate victim themselves, it happens and I've seen it before - I'll contact the developer who can hopefully offer some explanation - as always I'll keep the thread updated
