Just recently I've noticed VirusTotal becoming somewhat unreliable - it's very much a hit and miss affair sometimes, and it's incredibly annoying when trying to add downloads to the site and I can't scan them properly. However, I've noticed a few alternatives to VirusTotal which I've used regularly now, one of which is http://virusscan.jotti.org/ - this is just as fast (if not faster) than VirusTotal and offers scanning from 20 antivirus vendors such as avast, AVG, AntiVir, Clam, F-Prot, and many more well known titles as well as a few lesser known one's.

It would seem to me that VirusTotal's success has actually been it's downfall, with service levels reaching epic proportions and as such rendering the service unusable at times, and it would seem this is becoming more regular.

It's always good to have a few alternatives to use, especially when one is down or is experiencing high usage and I've listed a few I've found here .. if you can suggest anymore I'll add them to the list :)

I did find another two, although the first wouldn't scan the file I submitted and the second one is undergoing maintenance apprently!!

          Tadaaa !!! https://freewarebb.com/files/file/11193-jottiq/

I too am using jotti.org mostly now .. virustotal has just became way to unpredictable and unstable for me, even just now I tried to scan jottiq using virustotal, it uploads then just redirects back to the main page ... not good for such a large setup, not good at all :negative:
