For most of us, it's about giving something up, like not drinking as much, or eating, and in my case it's smoking!.
I've been smoking now for about 25 years and have tried a couple of times in the past but never really gave it 100% of my committment. I have vowed however, that 2012 WILL be the year I give up smoking for good and although I haven't put a firm date in my mind I'm actually trying to significantly reduce the amount I smoke right now and change my smoking habits. For example, an hour ago I had a coffee with 2 pancakes and lashings of butter - normally the minute I finish eating those I'd have lit up, but I've managed to go an hour now without doing so.
I know a lot of people will probably say, big deal, an hour's nothing, do a week !!. But for a smoker, smoking is not only an addiction, it's very much a habit and for most of us it's been a habit of a lifetime - breaking that habit slowly will begin to seperate those triggers, well it will for me anyway. At the end of the day I know I can go right now and have a cigarette, I actually do want one now because I'm talking about it !!

But hey, I'll have one, and it may be my last one today, it might not, but one things for sure, I'm determined to break this habbit and quit for good this year, one way or another - I've seen too many people develop too many problems through smoking and at the end of the day it's just not worth taking the risk anymore - we also have a grandchild on the way this year (May to be exact) and me and my wife want to be around for a lot of years to come to enjoy the family and not have to run outside everytime the kids are around, so here's to whatever resolution you have made this year, and do tell please

Wishing you all a very healthy and prosperous new year in 2012
